Hi there long-neglected follower darlings!
I spent Wednesday night through Saturday night in Baltimore with the manfriend, his sister, and her boyfriend. It was probably the most insane vacation I’ve ever taken, even considering the fact that we went to bed during the PM hours almost every night. We’re super cool like that. But seriously, I think I drank my weight in beer, ate my weight in brick oven pizza, and walked about 30 miles. I’m going to write a full post – including some photos – later this week!
It’s been about a week since we began our official move-in, so obviously I’m now an expert on moving in with your significant other. Obviously, he hasn’t killed me yet or cast me out into the streets, so I must be doing a pretty good job.
What I’ve Learned So Far:
1. If you’re on completely different schedules, figure out how to make it work – you don’t have to adjust them to match. I go to sleep around 12, and he joins me around 3. I sleep like the dead, so maybe this wouldn’t work for everyone, but I personally find it a lot more realistic than trying to make my nightowl boyfriend go to sleep in the PM hours.
2. Don’t be cheap. I used a quart of milk from his carton last week, but bought a gallon today. He shares his beer with me, and I make him food sometimes. Unless you start to feel like you’re supporting your SO unfairly, there’s no reason to squabble over a box of cereal. It’ll probably even out in the end.
3. Ask for space when you need it, nicely. Both he and I are introverts, and we’ve acknowledged that there will be times when we’ll need “me time”. I plan on moving some of my desk and blogging stuff into a spare corner so we can have separate work areas (and oh, idk, so I can watch Pretty Little Liars without judgment…).
4. Related to #2, have a plan for certain expenses. Manfriend and I have an agreement wherein he buys beer for our consumption, and I buy sex toys/accouterments for our use. He drinks more beer than I do, and I use more sex toys (and lust after far more) than he does, but we happily share. (Bonus: If you buy glass or pure silicone, you can completely sanitize your toys and actually share. So cost effective!)
I’ll be back with more wisdom as I glean it. Since I’ve sucked on Sundays lately, look forward to a weekly links post tomorrow or Wednesday, too. I promise, it’ll be jumbo. Like, world’s biggest dildo jumbo.
I haven’t posted pictures from Instagram in at least a month, maybe two! I hope you’ve missed them as much as I have. I’ve been posting regularly on Twitter and Instagram itself, but they haven’t made it to my blog in a while. (If you want to keep up with me, you can find me on IG @nicetobelieve!)
My dad’s an architect and sometimes likes to design and build model buildings. This one is my favorite!
Page Dairy Mart! If you’re ever in Pittsburgh, I seriously recommend grabbing some ice cream. They have crazy soft serve flavors and the most amazing sundaes ever.
Blogger cliche #1,956,783: Froyo and toppings, shot from above. So good. Every bite. Taro yogurt, raspberries, mochi, and graham cracker crumbs.
Every time I go into Madewell, I just leave wanting all of the things.
No Instagram post is complete without a shot of the fluffy pup, Dmitri!
Shrimp fajitas from Mad Mex? Yes, please. I was kind of shocked by how excellent they were as leftovers the next day. College kid working 8 hour retail shifts win.
The flowers outside of my parents’ house attract the most adorable bumbly bees. I can’t get enough!
Steve and I have taken to laying on his roof and watching the sunset, sometimes with dinner in hand.
Share your Instagram username so we can be friends!
Oh yeah, Darlings.
I FINALLY WENT TO TRADER JOE’S. That’s right. There’s been one literally five minutes from my apartment for 8 months now and I had no idea because I’m directionally challenged. Luckily, the fella that’s been taking me out recently (also known as NerdyRG if you follow me on Twitter) knows his way around the Pittsburgh neighborhoods better than I do.
What did I get? All things that are good! Goat cheese brie, Joe Joe’s sandwich cookies, almond cocoa spread, fish sticks and chicken strips that aren’t packed with sodium or preservatives, and a buttload of veggies (and hummus!). It was pretty incredible. I piled a plate high with celery and carrots and hummus as soon as I got home, and ran around my apartment handing out Joe Joes like some the Cookiemonster on crack.
Luckily for you, I was still able to rustle up some lazy Sunday linkage to keep your night exciting. I know, you can thank me later.
& Gina has mad smoothie swagger and wants to share her magic with you!
& Kira made some amazing desktop and iPhone wallpapers for May! Is anyone else obsessed with having a calendar on their wallpaper or lock screen? It makes my life 10x easier. If you haven’t tried it yet, grab hers! It’s gawgeous.
& Whether you blog or journal privately, August Empress has some fantastic and unique promptsfor your next entry.
& Batzey shared 3 separate easy-peasy tutorials on how to jazz up a camera strap. Make yours stand out! I’m really dying to try one of these.

Love, goat cheese, and sandwich cookies to all!
I’m actually on top of things this Sunday! Well, I’m on top of being lazy. That’s the best kind of thing to be on top of, right? That’s a dangerous thing to say on a sex-positive blog, huh? Whatever. You enjoy a good lazy Sunday in bed and you know it.
& First up, we have an amazing DIY tutorial from Camille Styles on how to make your own custom cork stopper for when you’re Poppin’ Bottles! (Poppin’ Bottles is also the name of her post, and she gets so many Marvelous points for that.)
& I’m kind of obsessed with The Fitnessista right now. I can’t for the life of me remember how I stumbled upon her blog, but I’m absolutely loving her positive attitude about health and wellness! She’s a personal trainer, a mum, and she makes amazing, healthy meals for which she shares the often simple recipes. Brilliant.
& At some point, I would really, really like to take this e-course on achieving your creative dream job from Elsie and Emma of Red Velvet.
& If you’ve been a Marvelous Darling reader for a long time, you might remember my old, old post about nail polish. Well, the cat’s out of the bag now: I freaking love nail polish. Glitter polish, matte polish, shiny polish, sheer polish, opaque polish. If someone sung me a nail polish version of “Soft Kitty” before bedtime, I would be heaven. If you want to learn how to make your own glitter nail polish, head on over to Lexy Levin’s tutorial – I’ll see you there, all glitterfabulous!
& Have you gotten Paper’d yet? No? Why not? Don’t you like free, professionally designed iPhone wallpapers? Yeah. They’re super pretty. I have one on my phone now, and while I’m still rocking a 3G (that’s right, not a 3GS – I got mad 3G swag over here), my phone looks like a million bucks. So if you want some, go get some.
& I kind of want to marry Kira for the Primp My Blog section of her site, Her New Leaf. No, but seriously. If you’re new to blogging, or if you need a little sprucing, go check her out!
& …and while we’re on the subject, go check out her post about her favorite iPhone apps! I had no idea half of these existed and I’m super excited to try out Hipstamatic Disposable!
I hope you’re enjoying a lazy or productive Sunday, my loves. See you later!
Safe & sexy,
Pretties! Since I’ve been slacking with my DSLR lately, I wanted to share some photos in the format I’ve actually been able to keep up with. It’s worth noting, I’m back to an older iPhone 3G, so the quality could stand improvement, but it’s just so fun to shoot on! I can’t get enough.
I’m a barista at a small local cafe, so I usually get to spend about 3 days a week making drinks and talking to great people. It’s pretty sick! This is a little hot chocolate latte amalgamation I made to satiate my caffeine withdrawal and my sweet tooth. Aren’t our turtle mugs precious?
This is Ewan, my big silly boy rat. He’s sadly all by his lonesome since his brother died, but he loves to free range in my room and cuddle inside my robe. I’m pretty certain that his favorite food is almonds, and he’s under the impression that his wheel is only good for snacking in.
I swear, I’ve had at least 3-4 meals of tomato soup and grilled cheese in the past week, and I couldn’t possibly be happier. As you can sort of see in the picture, our kitchen table is deliciously retro, and I loved the way the meal, the table’s print, and this particular Instagram filter (Nashville!) meshed. I’m kind of an addict.
Safe & sexy,
